CHEESY BLOG TITLES

A few people have poked fun at some of my blog titles, rolling their eyes at the silly double meanings that I insist on using. So for this blog, about the dinner we had with the owners of the Swiss chalet we rented this week, I will do my best to refrain.

Margrith & Reto, who lived on the main floor of the chalet, invited all the Canadians to an authentic Swiss fondue on Saturday night. They also invited some friends of theirs who spoke English well, to help with the conversation. Apparently fondues are quite a tradition in Switzerland and they tricked us into thinking there were specific fondue rules and etiquette to follow. However, it turned out they were pulling our legs, and it quickly became a bit of a free for all, as we all dug in.

She served two large bowls full of several types of cheese, melted down into one cheesy sauce for us to dip our bread cubes. It was very tasty as you can imagine.

There's something about eating a homemade Swiss cheese fondue in the middle of the Swiss Alps that just felt, well, authentic. Kind of like when we ate noodles in Shanghai, couscous in Marseille, or schnitzel with weisbeer in Berlin - it just seemed so fitting.

Thanks Margrith, Reto and family. See you next year!
