The "Still Kicking" Heesey Award

And the winner is...... Franco Neto - Brazil

Some guys just keep on ticking. Franco became the first ever 40 year-old to win an FIVB event when he and partner, Pedro Cunha, won the 2007 France Open in Marseille. Of course, Cunha has to put up with flashes of Franco's "oldtimerness", like when he forgot to show up for his playoff round match at the Austrian Grand Slam this year! Ooops! Memory loss is a common side effect of aging, but I have a feeling he won't forget his record-breaking win in Marseille for a long, long time. I just hope he remembers to pick up his coveted Heesey Award!
